A stunning vintage oil on thick wood panel, version of Edouard Bisson's Allegory of Spring 1891. The painting, which is beautifully executed on an old wood panel 1 inches thick, measures 20 inches x 14 inches & is elegantly framed in a fine ornate gilt gesso gallery frame with overall measurements at 26 inches x 20 inches. The painting bears a signature & date (1891) but whilst the painting is difficult to date, I believe that it is a mid C20th version of the original. There are subtle differences and the very thick panel certainly has some age (see photos). This is however a Museum Quality piece, wonderfully decorative & in excellent condition.
